For those of us that are normally crafty, but just cannot master a specific project I offer up Craft Fail. This community blog offers up fun filled photographs and stories of crafts gone horribly wrong. What I really love about this blog is that the members are regular crafters that keep trying new things, and sharing the results when they do not go well. They often give the picture or instructions of what they were aiming for, as well as the result and why they believe the craft failed.
A daily blog stop for me is Cake Wrecks. The blog offers pictures of cakes that have been created by professionals, in most cases, but have some level of decorating disaster. They choose a different theme to highlight on a regular basis. There are pages of poorly spelled messages, over decorated cakes, colors that should not be found on food, and holiday goofs. Occasional cakes gone extremely right are also shown to demonstrate what a professional should be capable of. I had to stop looking at this blog while trying to rock my youngest to sleep, because I often dissolved into laughter, which never helps her sleep.
For the more adventurous among us there is Fail Blog, which is full of posted videos and pictures of things I would not have tried in the first place. Anyone can offer up a submission. Most entries are stunts that go wrong, signs or pictures that make you wonder how intelligent out fellow man really is and slap dash inventions that do not look like good ideas. This blog likely will appeal more to the guys, but it does offer up a chuckle for everyone.
English Fail Blog is a fun selection of pictures featuring signs, clothing, pop up windows and anything else that you can imagine with words that feature misspellings and grammar issues to make you chuckle. As a frequent misspeller, myself I am extremely cautious about any questionable spelling that I might make, so some of these fit close to home for me. However, I am both amused and appalled at some of the mistakes made by restaurants, newspapers and other businesses that would have caught the error if only they proofread the material.
Lastly, I offer a blog that will not surprise anyone that works in customer service or sales, but will entertain everyone. Not Always Right shows us that despite all hopes the customer is in reality not always right. Even though everyone has had at least one brush with someone that could participate in these true situations, I think that anyone that has ever been on the other end of these logic-defying exchanges will get a laugh and sigh of relief that it was not them. These failures in logic make me shake my head in wonder at people. Anyone can add a conversation or experience that shows that in fact the customer in not always right.
I find that these blogs are great after a rough day in my public service career, or after a hard day with my children. When you are ready for a laugh, or simply need to see that someone else has had a worse day than you have, these fail sites can always cause a smile.
